This are the interventions in the fields of health, education and society carried out by trained professionals with the participation of specially selected animals to contribute to the therapeutic, social and educational improvement of people.
The following modalities stand out to date:
• Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT)
It is an intervention that is based on the interaction and bond between a person and an animal properly selected and trained, for the attainment of therapeutic objectives marked by socio-sanitary professionals experts in the field.
• Animal Assisted Education (AAE)
It is an intervention that is based on the interaction and bond between a person and an animal duly selected and trained, for the attainment of educational objectives marked by professionals of education experts in the field.
• Animal Assisted Activities (AAA)
It is an intervention that is based on the interaction and bond between a person and an animal. This animal must have specific selection and training requirements. It will be directed by a technician in AAI and will pursue general objectives of the recreational, motivational, desensitization, awareness and dissemination type.
• Expert in assisted interventions with animals (AIE)
Professional of the socio-sanitary field or of the education formed for the design, realization and evaluation of the IAA in their programs in order to reach previously established objectives for the intervention receiver (IR).
• Technician in assisted animal interventions (AIT)
Professional with a holistic training in the field of human relations at the same time as in the management, behavior, education and animal welfare whose objective is to facilitate and enhance the interaction between the specific animal for each program and the intervention receiver, following pre-established protocols.
